Subtitle Options : English / Russian / Rumanian The Black Sea is known with its holiday resorts, pretty fishing boats and people. But, for seafarers, it has not been associated with these beauties for a long time. For centuries the Black Sea has been witnessing an active maritime commerce between surrounding countries and communities. But today, it has turned into a nightmare for seafarers. For them the Black Sea means low wages, old vessels and severe working conditions accompanied by fatal marine accidents. Those seafarers from different countries of Black Sea, are trying to earn their living and look after their families under such bad conditions. They endure the hardships of their job in order to provide a better life for their yearning families. They try to survive in the vessels that are left to their fate without any payment for months, without fuel and provision. Delayed or unpaid wages, hard work, bad living conditions, ignored safety rules have just become a routine. And to make matters worse, seafarers in despair have to pay manning agents to find a job. “The Sea of Shame” is a term that sums up these severe conditions in the Black Sea. This documentary has been completed in one year. We are grateful to all those who supported us and put their labour in it.

Vantage travelers often compliment George Bihoi's "wonderful bedside manner," which is no surprise, since he has a Master's degree in Health Care and Human Resources. His other credentials include certification as a national guide with the Romanian Ministry of Tourism, and as an official translator with the Romanian Ministry of Justice (highest certification available in the field.) But perhaps his best qualification to lead you along the Main, Rhine, and Danube rivers is his deep appreciation for the opportunity to discover new worlds. He credits his mother with that, since she was an English teacher who made sure her son knew what was behind the Iron Curtain long before it fell. Says George, "By 1989 when the revolution came, I was ready to open up to the newly discovered democracy. It's been 12 years for me leading tours and I can safely say that each time I go back to a place, I find something new and exciting worth sharing with our visitors." Among his favorite places to share are the Iron Gates and Transylvania, especially in fall and spring. A true man for all seasons, George still helps out in the emergency room of a Bucharest hospital when not on tour.

NASA observations show the dynamism of Greenland's Ice sheet in the changing elevation of its surfaces. Recent analysis of seven years of readings from NASA's ICESat satellite and four years of laser and and ice-penetrating radar data from NASA's airborne mission Operation IceBridge shows the changes taking place. In the animation featured here, the colors shown on the surface of the ice sheet represent the accumulated change in elevation since 2003. The light yellow over the central region of the ice sheet indicates a slight thickening due to snow. This accumulation, along with the weight of the ice sheet, pushes ice toward the coast. Thinning near coastal regions, shown in green, blue and purple, has increased over time and now extends into the interior of the ice sheet where the bedrock topography permits. As a result, there has been an average loss of 300 cubic kilometers of ice per year between 2003 and 2012. This animation portrays the changes occurring in the surface elevation of the ice sheet since 2003 in three drainage regions: the southeast, the northeast and the Jakobshavn regions. In each region, the time advances to show the accumulated change in elevation from 2003 through 2012.

As Europe's second-longest river and a vital means of transportation for 2,000 years, the Danube is the only major European river to flow from west to east. The Danube river rises in Germany's Black Forest and flows through or along the borders of 10 countries -- Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Romania, where it divides into an expansive delta, the northernmost branch of which continues along the border of Ukraine and Moldova, before entering the Black Sea. The Main-Danube canal, which joins the Main and Danube rivers and stretches for a length of 106 miles from Bamberg to Regensburg in Germany, with a total of 16 locks, has made it possible to travel by river cruise ship from the North Sea to the Black Sea.

Each year in late summer, Atlantic salmon begin their journey from sea, up rivers, to gravelly egg-laying beds in the river channel. As the rain falls and water levels rise the salmon make their move. They must overcome surging waterfalls and furious rapids, and survive being beaten into rocks. They rest and recover in deep pools, where the water is cold and slower moving. Some of the most interesting pools on the Upper Salomon River are found at Black Hole. These river features were created thousands of years ago when receding glaciers likely triggered a massive landslide. This is perfect habitat for Atlantic salmon, but today very few return to this area to spawn; this short video explores the story of this endangered species in a habitat that should suit them perfectly.

Music: Dubakupado Genre: African by Kevin MacLeod www.incompetech.com The Black River is one of the longest rivers in Jamaica. At a length of 53.4 km, it was believed to be the longest until it was discovered that the Rio Minho was 92.8 km long. Length: 53 km. The Lower Morass consists of shallow estuaries, marshland and mangrove swamps providing a rich ecological environment for a broad range of fish, birds and other creatures including lobsters, mangrove snappers, snook and mullet. Here the river is joined by the YS river making the Lower Morass the largest (14,085 acres) swamp environment in the Caribbean. American crocodiles (Crocodylus acutus) inhabit the swamps but the population has declined due mainly to loss of habitat as heavy draining for agricultural or tourist destroys their nesting places. Birds found here include egrets, herons and ospreys. The mangrove trees of the Lower Morass are sometimes spectacular with aerial roots sent out like spiders' legs, sometimes dropping 40 feet into the river. Lacovia and Middle Quarters are located between the Upper Morass and the Lower Morass. Middle Quarters is famous for its crayfish known locally as 'hot pepper shrimps.' The traps mused by the fishermen are similar to those of the Niger River in Africa and were brought to the island by slaves over 300 years ago.Jamaica (Listeni/dʒəˈmeɪkə/) is an island country situated in the Caribbean Sea, comprising the third-largest island of the Greater Antilles. The island, 10,990 square kilometres (4,240 sq mi) in area, lies about 145 kilometres (90 mi) south of Cuba, and 191 kilometres (119 mi) west of Hispaniola, the island containing the nation-states of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Jamaica is the fifth-largest island country in the Caribbean. Once a Spanish possession known as Santiago, in 1655 it came under the rule of England (later Great Britain), and was called Jamaica. It achieved full independence from the United Kingdom on 6 August 1962. With 2.8 million people, it is the third most populous Anglophone country in the Americas, after the United States and Canada. Kingston is the country's largest city and its capital, with a population of 937,700. Jamaica has a large diaspora around the world, due to emigration from the country. Jamaica is a Commonwealth realm, with Queen Elizabeth II as its monarch and head of state. Her appointed representative in the country is the Governor-General of Jamaica, currently Patrick Allen. The head of government and Prime Minister of Jamaica is Portia Simpson-Miller. Jamaica is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy with legislative power vested in the bicameral Parliament of Jamaica, consisting of an appointed Senate and a directly elected House of Representatives.

Keith Lyrics: I have never been one to explain a lot I always get tossed off my train of thought I can't hold on for long to the things I've got I don't know who I am, but I'm learning what I'm not I had learned to walk the streets alone I trained my feet to fall to a metronome I had maps of where I planned to go But then you showed up and all that went out the window I have lost a lot along the way But all I see is everything I've gained And there's nothing I wouldn't trade To have you stay with me all night til we Could see the morning in And clasp out hands and draft some plans And try to hold on to them As we Both change Again and again Things can't stay the same, we both agreed And now on my map your face is pinned across the sea I have nothing to do but wait and see And pray our maps and plans will bring you back to me I know the only constant thing is change But through it all, my thoughts persist the same I'd still give it all away To have you stay with me all life til we Have to tuck each other in So if I can, may I have your hand Can you teach me how to dance And laugh And love Oh, waltz me til the end

EDIT: oh yeah so I had to record this in the bathroom because my roommate was asleep. somehow it's no longer freshman geography so I had to rewrite the europe song! this time relating to WWII. remember that listed countries follow a pattern, so make sure you can follow on a map with the song. lyrics with explanations in square brackets as usual: iceland is in the altantic [ocean] norway sweden finland are really good friends [right next to each other] ireland and G[great] B[ritain]: through North Sea; easy! now we'll go to denmark and continue down berlin, germany; prague, czechoslovakia; and don't forget sudetenland--a "C" shape in its west switzerland; vienna, austria; and rome, italy now we'll go back up to the netherlands and progress southwest belgium; paris, france... is that... Luxemborg?! [because it's so tiny you don't even notice it at first!] ..in that area we have rhineland in northern france we then have normandy west of france we see the bay of biscay near our trio [norway, sweden, finland] flows the baltic sea into estonia and latvia; lithuania and a place we don't care for now we're into poland: danzig to warsaw jumping down we'll find hungary; yugoslavia; albania adrianic [sea] into mediterrainean [sea] just around Athens, Greece; through the agean [sea] into turkey up the black sea; west to bulgaria then romania; and the crimean penninsula is just over the black sea (short interlude) soviet union is pretty huge slide leningrad to moscow to stalingrad [placement of cities top down towards east] to be left with yalta; and that's europe in 1939

It is a popular tourist destination where people spend a day or two in houseboats and enjoy the pristine natural beauty. Aleppey is considered to be the oldest city of Kerala and is often known as the "Venice Of The East". The reason for this name is of course, due to so much interconnecting water "highways" and the number of boats. There are thousands of boats in Alappuzha and they come in all sizes. The backwaters of Kerala are a chain of lagoons, and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian sea coast. The backwaters consist of 5 large lakes linked by canals and fed by 38 different rivers. This forms almost 560 miles of waterways, spanning to almost half of Kerala. Such a vast waterway network is convenient for tourists to travel in houseboats, while conveniently wining and dining. Thanks to free music from Teknoaxe, I used the track "Fields Of Tranquility". #India #Backwaters #Travel

View of Guwahati city including the Brahmaputra river seen aerially. The huge sand bars one can see vary with the season and flow of the river. This is India's largest and widest river by flow, way larger than the Ganga or Ganges. The river Brahmaputra is one of the major river in the world. It originates from Mansarovar near Mount Kailash in the Himalayas, flows via Tibbet, China, India and Bangladesh to Bay of bangal. The total length it travels from Himalayans to the Bay is 2900 Km. In Tibbet the river is known as 'Tsangpo'. It follows the great Himalayans in its course till India with an average height of 4000 meters. It enters India in Arunachal Pradesh where it is called 'Siang'. It then flows down to the plains of Assam, where it is called Dibang. It joins with other two giant rivers, Dibang and Lohit. There are many tributaries which joins Brahmaputra on both northern and southern bank of the river in Assam. With all it's tributaries, the river creates the fertile Brahmaputra Valley of Assam. After Assam Brahmaputra enters Bangladesh where it flows for 240 kms to meet Ganges. It is called Jamuna there and finally flows into the Bay of Bangal. The Brhmaptura river is the lifeline of the all the people living in Assam and Bangladesh. Assam is a state of India in the north-eastern region. Its capital Dispur, is located within the municipal area of Guwahati city. Located south of the eastern Himalayas, Assam comprises the Brahmaputra and the Barak river valleys along with the Karbi Anglong and the North Cachar Hills. Assam is surrounded by six of the other Seven Sister States: Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya. Geographically Assam and these states are connected to the rest of India via a narrow strip of land in West Bengal called the Siliguri Corridor or "Chicken's Neck". Assam shares international borders with Bhutan and Bangladesh; as well as cultures, peoples and climate with South-East Asia -- important elements in India's Look East policy. Assam became a part of the British India after the British occupied the region following the First Anglo-Burmese War of 1824--1826. Assam is rich in culture, ethnic groups, languages/dialects spoken and literature. It is known for Assam tea, large and old petroleum resources (the first oil reserves of India were discovered in Assam in the late 19th century), Assam silk and for its rich biodiversity. Assam has successfully conserved the one-horned Indian rhinoceros from near extinction, along with the tiger and numerous species of birds, and it provides one of the last wild habitats for the Asian elephant. It is becoming an increasingly popular destination for wildlife tourism, and Kaziranga and Manas are both World Heritage Sites.Assam was also known for its Sal tree forests and forest products, of which much is depleted now. A land of high rainfall, Assam is endowed with lush greenery and the mighty river Brahmaputra. NASA, together with USGS, (United States Geological Survey), released a 3-year study report detailing the 8,450 square kilometer palladium deposits lying below the seas of Visayan, Sibuyan, and Tablas Strait. Current biggest producer of Palladium is Russia with 44%, followed by Africa with 40%, and the rest are from Canada and US. If the Philippine government allows foreign investors to dig and mine the palladium deposits, the country can expect around $9.8B a year in net profit, report said. Advance Wars 2 War Room "Last Mission" Defeat Nell in 7 days by HQ capture War Room Maps are all about exploiting and abusing the AI, then winning the game by capturing the unguarded HQ. After Nell is gone, you still have more than 20 days to deal with Andy before the "Speed" score is penalised, so you only need to pay attention to "Power" and "Technique" score. (In the video it is my fault that I forget to protect the bait T-copter. However, with some weaker COs such as Colin and Flak this kill may be unavoidable.)

Here is a quick and dirty treasure map, suitable for any good ol' pirate adventure. Made in under 15 minute, including creating custom effects on style sheets, text along curves, and even custom line styles, this super-fast video shows off how you can get a great looking and unique map, fast. It makes use of the Treasure Map template in the 2011 Annual, which is still available (at a cost) from the ProFantasy web site.

Deadly Crocodiles of the Nile River - Nature Documentary The Nile crocodile has a somewhat deserved reputation as a vicious man-eater. The proximity of much of its habitat to people means run-ins are frequent. And its virtually indiscriminate diet means a villager washing clothes by a riverbank might look just as tasty as a migrating wildebeest. Firm numbers are sketchy, but estimates are that up to 200 people may die each year in the jaws of a Nile croc. Africa's largest crocodilian, these primordial brutes reach a maximum size of about 20 feet (6 meters) and can weigh up to 1,650 pounds (730 kilograms). Average sizes, though, are more in the range of 16 feet (5 meters) and 500 pounds (225 kilograms). They live throughout sub-Saharan Africa, the Nile Basin, and Madagascar in rivers, freshwater marshes, and mangrove swamps. The diet of the Nile crocodile is mainly fish, but it will attack almost anything unfortunate enough to cross its path, including zebras, small hippos, porcupines, birds, and other crocodiles. It will also scavenge carrion, and can eat up to half its body weight at a feeding. One unusual characteristic of this fearsome predator is its caring nature as a parent. Where most reptiles lay their eggs and move on, mother and father Nile crocs ferociously guard their nests until the eggs hatch, and they will often roll the eggs gently in their mouths to help hatching babies emerge. Hunted close to extinction in the 1940s through the 1960s, local and international protections have helped them rebound in most areas. In some regions, though, pollution, hunting, and habitat loss have severely depleted their numbers.
