And even though we can try to tough it out and ignore the pain we feel while recovering from a difficult workout muscle soreness can really get in the way of our lives. When you're really sore not only do you become less functional with simple day-to-day tasks like sitting down and standing up but you also wind-up delaying you're next intense workout session because you need to take extra days off to fully recover. And this can definitely slow down your progress because training frequency or the amount of days per week that you can once again break down an already repaired muscle is a very important factor that contributes to your overall results. And Even if you do force yourself to exercise while your muscles are sore chances are very high that you won't be able to perform at a high intensity making it more difficult for you to progressively overload your workouts, once again slowing down your progress. So in today's video I want to go over the five best ways to relieve muscle soreness as fast as possible so you can get back to living your life without feeling like you're handicapped and so you can perform at your best during all your workouts. The first thing that most trainers and experts will tell you to do is to stretch the muscles you've worked immediately after your workout. This has been considered by many to be your first line of defense against soreness. And even though you definitely should stretch after every workout to keep your muscles from getting tighter over time and to prevent the risk of injury in the future, it turns out that stretching doesn't really help with soreness. A series of randomized studies suggest that whether you stretch your muscles before, after, or both before and after exercise, it doesn't produce clinically significant reductions in doms which stands for delayed-onset muscle soreness. Foam rolling on the other hand has been shown in studies to be a lot more beneficial so this is the first thing you'll want to do. Foam rolling is also know a self myofacial release and it essentially allows you to give yourself a massage. Most gyms have foam rollers and if your gym doesn't have one you can get one for very cheap off of amazon. But the 2 main goals of foam rolling is to stretch and loosen the fascia around your muscles, and to decrease the intensity of sore spots found around the muscles in order to move more freely. It'll result in decreased muscle and joint pain, increased circulation and improved mobility. But its important that you're doing it correctly for it to be effective. You'll want to start by rolling up and down the muscles that you just worked. Make sure you do this slowly. When you find sore spots, stop and just sit on those sore spots for 20 to 30 seconds before continuing. You want to do this gently using your hands to support your body weight to not put too much pressure on those spots. Some people make the mistake of finding the painful spots and sitting on them for 5 to 10 minutes at a time thinking that more is more. The heart muscle cannot pump properly, and the tissue begins to die quickly. About 735,000 Americans have a heart attack each year. However, only about 27% of people know all the symptoms of the urgency of a heart attack. Recognizing the signs of a heart attack and get to the hospital immediately can mean the difference between survival, irreversible tissue damage, and death. If you have any doubt about whether the pain you are experiencing a heart attack, seek medical help immediately. Signs before a heart attack 1 Pay attention to chest pain A chest pain, whether acute or dull, is the most common sign of a heart attack. People who have heart attacks often say they feel squeezing, fullness, pressure, stress or a strong feeling in the center or left side of the chest. This feeling may last a few minutes or more, or go away and come back later. 2 Check that the discomfort in the upper body Sometimes the pain of a heart attack radiates from the chest area outward, causing discomfort in the neck, jaw, abdomen, upper back, and left arm. The pain in these areas is usually a dull ache. If you have not recently worked out or do anything that may cause upper body pain, this pain could be a sign youre having a heart attack. The weakness of the body One of the main symptoms to be aware of is the weakness of the body. Your body feels weak because the arteries narrowing is experiencing, which means less blood flow and circulation. This leads to weakened muscles that could cause it to fall more easily. This symptom is a big red flag, so be careful if you are experiencing bodily weakness. 4 dizziness and cold sweats Dizziness and cold sweats are another sign that something is terribly wrong, such as poor blood circulation in the body part of blood flow to the brain are cut off. This restriction of blood flow is something to consider, as your body will feel sticky and discomfort. Your brain needs adequate blood flow to function properly and feels healthy. These symptoms indicate that a heart attack could be just around the corner. 5 Monitor your breathing Shortness of breath is a subtle symptom of heart attack should not be taken lightly. The winner takes it all and the honor is enormeous. In other countries the sport might be called Staples, CanonBalls, SuecideBombs, Manu bombs, and so on (NOT bellyflops) Dødsing, or “Death Diving”, is a Norwegian extreme sport that has daredevils jumping from a 10-meter-high board with their arms and legs spread out in an x-formation. The goal is to keep the pose for as long as possible and curl your body slightly right before hitting the water to prevent injuries. At the World Dødsing Championship, a wacky competition held every summer since 2008, the diver who manages to impress the judges the most by speed, splash attitude, and controlling the air best, is pronounced the winner. But there are plenty of fearless dødsing divers at the world championship, so in order to determine the winner, judges also take into account other factors, such as the speed, height and power of the jump, the originality of the jumping style and the spray produced when hitting the water. The painful-looking sport is believed to have been invented during the 1960’s, at the famous Frognerbadet pool complex in Oslo, probably by a bunch of kids trying to show off in front of their friends. The first ever dødsing championship was a small affair, with just six divers and about a dozen spectators, but after the founding of Det internasjonale dødseforbundet (The International Dødsing Association) in 2011, its popularity grew exponentially. These days, the World Dødsing Championship held at Frognerbadet is a big event, featuring close to 100 divers and thousands of spectators. *READ FULL ARTICLE WITH PHOTOS* https://muscularstrength.com/article/Should-I-Workout-When-Im-Sore Today I want to answer a question that I get asked all the time. “Should I workout when I’m sore?” I actually saw a video on this topic the other day by another YouTuber and it blows my mind the amount of misinformation that is out there. In the video I watched this person answer the question by rambling for a while, throw in some fancy words here and there and for some reason everybody believed what he said! In the end, the stuff he said didn’t any make sense or really amount to any conclusion at all. This is what really gets to me Nation. You all need to be able to tell the difference between real life experience and research knowledge versus people who know how to ramble and babble about a topic for 10 - 15 min, but never really give you any concrete information. But enough venting and back to the topic at hand. Today we are going to talk about DOMS, which stands for Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. DOMS: Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness Let’s say you hit the gym ultra-hard or just came back to exercising after being out of the gym for a while and about a day to three days after your workout you start feeling sore. This feeling of pain is what we call DOMS and it is caused by all the microtears and inflammation that happens to your muscle tissue as a result of your workout. The process of repairing your muscles is what causes them to grow in size and get stronger, so this is all normal and a part of the process. But should you go back to the gym if your muscles are still sore? The answer is: It depends on how bad it is. Are You In Uncomfortable Pain? If you’re in a lot of pain and it feels like something is wrong, obviously you should not go to the gym and you should go see a doctor. Most of us know our bodies well enough to know when something is not right. But this is not what I want to focus on. Are Your Muscles Sore To The Touch? If you didn’t injure yourself but the muscle is very sore to the point that it hurts when you touch it or causes you to not have full range of motion, than my answer is: Wait another day to work that muscle group. The key point here is do not train the muscle group THAT IS SORE. I’m not saying skip the gym, I’m saying let this specific muscle recover and focus on another area for that day. For example, if my legs are killing me I still train that day but I will adjust my schedule to work something like biceps. There is no need to rush the process because if you’re experiencing DOMS and can't perform full range of motion on your exercises, you’re not going to have the most productive workout anyway. Another thing to keep in mind is that if your muscles are working on repairing the tears you’ve inflicted on your previous workout, creating more tears and damage will only disrupt the recovery process. So the bottom line, rest THAT area a little longer. Do You Have Light Muscle Soreness? If you’re feeling reasonably sore, but it’s not as drastic as the situation described above, it’s actually a good thing to go to gym and get the sore muscles moving again. Just be sure to take it easy on the weights! This is not the time to go hardcore and try to hit a new personal record. What you want to do is hit some aerobic exercises and do some light lifting. Activity in this case is good because it will increase the temperature in the area which increases oxygen flow and the flow of much needed nutrients to help heal the damaged area as well. This blood flow is also good because it will help to take toxins away which were produced by the tears and subsequent inflammation of your muscle tissue. So no excuses nation! Even when you’re extremely sore, you should still go to the gym! It’s just a matter of figuring out how bad it is so you can decide if you can train the same area again or if you have to come up with a plan B to workout another part of your body. Conclusion Now knowing this, you might be thinking, if I workout but I don’t get sore, does it mean I’m not going to grow? Absolutely not! But I am going to talk about that in more detail in a future article! Tattoo artists are usually mindful of their client's pain threshold, catering for breaks and mitigating any unnecessary brutality. It's abnormal for tattoo artists to restrain people while they're getting tattooed, or for the tattooee to bolt upright in agony to escape the needle's unrelenting penetrations. Nor is it very common to see sadistic mirth occupying the faces of multiple tattoo artists as they inflict the unnaturally long, thick, shallow lines seemingly without pause. Enter Brutal Black. It's the tattoo project where mandalas come to die and where pain is prioritized over aesthetics. Ritual and rebirth are at the forefront of this project helmed by Valerio Cancellier and Cammy Stewart. They take those brave enough to be tattooed by them on one of the most brutal experiences one can imagine; far beyond one's threshold for pain to create an entirely new experience.
