Henri Matisse: A collection of 812 works (HD)

01:21:43
Henri Matisse: A collection of 812 works (HD) Description: "Henri Matisse is widely regarded as the greatest colorist of the twentieth century and as a rival to Pablo Picasso in the importance of his innovations. He emerged as a Post-Impressionist, and first achieved prominence as the leader of the French movement Fauvism. Although interested in Cubism, he rejected it, and instead sought to use color as the foundation for expressive, decorative, and often monumental paintings. As he once controversially wrote, he sought to create an art that would be "a soothing, calming influence on the mind, rather like a good armchair." Still life remained favorite subject throughout his career; North Africa was also an important inspiration, and, towards the end of his life, he made an important contribution to collage with a series of works using cut-out shapes of color. He is also highly regarded as a sculptor." --- MUSIC: Kevin MacLeod - Drone in D Drone in D by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1200044 Artist: http://incompetech.com/ SUBSCRIBE: www.youtube.com/c/LearnFromMasters?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LearnFromMasters/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+LearnFromMasters Contact: [email protected] SUPPORT MY WORK AT: https://www.patreon.com/LearnFromMasters LIST OF ARTISTS already posted on LearnFromMasters: https://goo.gl/hri4HE --- Thank you so much for your support!

10 Amazing Facts about Henri Matisse

06:14
In this art history video about the famous French artist and painter Henri Matisse, I'll tell you 10 amazing facts you did not know about Matisse's life. He got into painting late after training at Law School. He took three attempts to get into the Ecole des Beaux Arts , the best art school in France located in Paris. He was a very conservative individual, but his meeting with Andre Derain and Maurice Vlaminck led to the creation of Fauvism and a complete change in the way he painted. His paintings are comfortable, very colourful and very easy on the eye. Later in life, after a bout of cancer, he was confined to his studio and decided to take up collage. During the time Matisse was in his studio he produced cutouts, that we see today as amazing collages. This art video would be a great introduction to an art lesson/ modern art, art workshop or art day for kids, children in a primary, elementary or secondary school. The video would also be interesting for art societies and art groups. Want this video in your own language? Check out my video to see how: https://youtu.be/ZnoxutAvyaI Do you enjoy my videos? Henri Matisse and a new art form

05:59
Towards the end of his life, Henri Matisse, a giant in the art world, put down his paintbrush and picked up a pair of scissors after suffering debilitating illness. His "cut-out" art opened up a new world for him, and changed the course of modern art. Martha Teichner reports on a revealing new exhibit at New York's Museum of Modern Art.

The French 20th century artist Henri Matisse wasn't just a painter and sculptor, he was also an innovator. He emerged as a Post-Impressionist at the end of the 19th century, and soon led a new French movement, Fauvism. He rejected Cubism and embraced colour. Henri Matisse A Cut Above the Rest(2013 - 2014)

29:30
Henri Matisse A Cut Above the Rest(2013 - 2014) Matisse was one of the most celebrated painters of the 20th century who, even in his own lifetime, enjoyed a level of popularity envied by other artists. But in 1941, after a near-fatal operation for cancer, he decided to give up painting and sought a new way of drawing in colour. Scissors replaced a paintbrush and with the unique skill of a tailor, he set about creating his now famous cut-outs, which have yet to be rivalled for their originality and daring. To coincide with a major Tate Modern exhibition in April, Alastair Sooke presents a moving and intimate portrait, with contributions from the Tate's Nicholas Serota, biographer Hilary Spurling and Jacqueline Duheme, who worked with Matisse in the late 1940s at this critical turning point in his career.

Henri Matisse - The Joy of Life (1905-1906)

08:34
Henri Matisse (1869–1954) is a French artist, most famous for his use of color in his paintings. In this video we’ll discuss one of his fauvist paintings “Le Bonheur de Vivre “, also known as “The Joy of Life”. In this video we’ll first take a look at the painting itself. What do we see? What can we say about the composition and ordonnance? After this visual analysis we'll go into the historical context and interpretations. What makes the Joy of Life so special is that it literally gives us a visual reminder of the joy of life. The truly expressive colors and thick brushstrokes, shaping this balanced design are groundbreaking and an icon of fauvism.

Henri Matisse Masterpiece Collection

Henri Émile Benoît Matisse; 31 December 1869 – 3 November 1954) was a French artist, known for both his use of colour and his fluid and original draughtsmanship. He was a draughtsman, printmaker, and sculptor, but is known primarily as a painter. Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Pablo Picasso, as one of the artists who best helped to define the revolutionary developments in the visual arts throughout the opening decades of the twentieth century, responsible for significant developments in painting and sculpture. The intense colorism of the works he painted between 1900 and 1905 brought him notoriety as one of the Fauves (wild beasts). Many of his finest works were created in the decade or so after 1906, when he developed a rigorous style that emphasized flattened forms and decorative pattern. In 1917 he relocated to a suburb of Nice on the French Riviera, and the more relaxed style of his work during the 1920's gained him critical acclaim as an upholder of the classical tradition in French painting. After 1930, he adopted a bolder simplification of form. When ill health in his final years prevented him from painting, he created an important body of work in the medium of cut paper collage. His mastery of the expressive language of colour and drawing, displayed in a body of work spanning over a half-century, won him recognition as a leading figure in modern art.
