Design Theory: How To Make Dynamic Compositions

14:48
How to make your motion design frames more dimensional. Create dynamic compositions with this one trick. One tip to make your designs more impactful. One simple tip for how to make your designs, photos, and illustrations better. Blind creative director, Matthew Encina, joins Chris Do in this quick tutorial/lesson on creating more dynamic compositions. To keep things simple and clearly illustrate what I mean, I’ve put together a few greyscale examples that show how adding contrast to your frames can drastically improve your compositions and effectiveness of your storytelling. If you ever find yourself stuck with a boring composition, push the contrast in the value, weight, size, and color of your subjects. Start drastically, then pull it back. One formula I like to use often is: 1 really BIG object — usually the subject, and most important element in the frame. 1–2 medium sized objects — secondary elements to give meaning to the main object. Tons of very tiny objects — tertiary elements to give movement and additional context for the frame. Principles of Composition

Graphic Design Module 4 Fundamentals of Composition To get certificate subscribe at: https://www.coursera.org/specializations/graphic-design ============================ Graphic Design https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2jykFOD1AWYL4gqHMENAqitCh4Jr1eSp ============================ Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/intrigano ============================ https://scsa.ge/en/online-courses/ https://www.facebook.com/cyberassociation/ Graphic design is in a period of rapid expansion and innovation. Designers are tasked with deciding how a message will look and be conveyed, as well as what the message says and even if it should be said at all. As a graphic designer, you have the power and responsibility of the ideas and objects that shape our culture. You will develop skills to create beautiful objects, make meaningful messages, to be persuasive, grow businesses, inspire emotional responses, and make ideas accessible to others. Graphic design is a dialogue with the world, leaving a record of that dialogue for later generations. As a graphic designer you will be able to apply your expertise to a variety of fields, giving you a broad range of career, creative, and intellectual options. Because of the diversity of applications of graphic design, there is no such thing as a typical design practice! This course, as well as the other courses in the Graphic Design Specialization, are meant to be general introductions to the topic and are suitable for students with little to no experience in design. Knowing how to create and deliver strong, compelling visual messages is beneficial for a person working in any field, from education to business to technology. Students with more design experience may also get a lot out of these courses—there are plenty of additional assignments and resources to supplement your existing knowledge. Module 4 Fundamentals of Composition This week we are going to look at how designers work with visual contrasts, cropping, hierarchy and direction in single images and complex compositions. You'll find out how to control and use scale, weight, direction, texture, and space in a composition, and how to compose work that ranges from the complex to the minimal. In the first peer review assignment you'll create your own abstract compositions that demonstrate your knowledge and control of visual contrast. In the final optional assignment, you can use all your skills from the entire course to create experimental compositions in the form of a poster for a mythical band. This last project is optional, but I strongly suggest you try it out, it'll let you grow and apply your design knowledge and really enjoy and express yourself in your design work!

Visual Design Principles: 5 things you should know to create persuasive content

09:48
Read a case study of how visual design principles work here http://blog.visme.co/data-storytelling-tips/ To communicate visually, you have to understand how humans absorb visual information. A problem with visually designed content is that people too often create visuals for the camera and not for humans. It may surprise you to know that people do not process images like a camera. Your brain has a 2% field of vision vs. the 180% field of view of the camera. The camera's large field of view means that it’s able to get all the information in front of it in one go. Visual design principles tell us the human eye processes visual content by rapid eye movements called Saccades. Saccades are when the eye is quickly moving around an environment grabbing small pieces of information to build the bigger picture. Your brain thinks it sees a complete image, but in reality, it’s absorbing small pieces of it. So the question is HOW does visual design for the human eye? Or more importantly; how do we create content that will encourage people to take the action we want? That’s exactly what I’m going to go through in this video: You’ll learn: 1. How to establish your focal point for the reader 2. How to differentiate between areas of importance 3. You’ll also learn how patterns are your friend 4. The effect of simplifying your focus 5. And finally, you’ll learn how to create subtle interactivity that draws the reader towards key areas of your content." Now, let's go over the steps in the visual design principles

11 Visual Hierarchy Principles - Learn how to improve and create beautiful graphics and designs.

08:28
Want to spice up your designs? This video will certainly help, where we'll take you through the 11 Visual Hierarchy principles to help you take your designs to the next level! What makes a great design? Even amateurs and who consider themselves complete non-designers can create effective compositions by prioritizing their content. What is the most important element of your design? What do you want audiences to notice second or third? Visual hierarchy is a method of organizing design elements in order of importance. In other words, it’s a set of principles that influence the order in which we notice what we see. Utilizing certain hierarchy principles can help even non-designers create successful visual presentations that are both efficient and effective. While the precise number of hierarchy principles varies greatly depending on the source, we’ve divided them into the following concepts, These principles include: Size and Scale, Perspective, Color and Contrast, Typography, Proximity, use of Negative Space, Alignment, Rules of Odds, using Repetition, Leading with Lines, and Rule of Thirds. These golden rules help us compose designs that are aesthetically pleasing and attract the right attention and can be followed by anyone without design experience to help you take your boring Powerpoints, Reports, Graphics, and pretty much any type of visual etc.. to a whole new level that you can be proud of. Watch the video and if you want to learn more about each principle visit our our blog: https://blog.visme.co/visual-hierarchy/

Visual Hierarchy Principle of Graphic Design | Guide To Graphic Design Skills For Beginner One of the most important tasks of a designer is to create a hierarchy—to create an order of importance to the elements of a design so as to direct attention and make information more easily assimilated. Hierarchy is defined as: A logical way to express the relative importance of different elements by providing a visual guide to their organization. Graphic Design Tutorial: Art Direction & Typography pt. 2

The principles of typography and design are discussed on the second part of Chris Do's review and art direction with graphic designer Minhye Cho. The Futur's upcoming magazine (featuring writing by members of The Futur community) is in development, so Chris Do has decided to shed light on his process while critiquing the work of Minhye Cho, an amazing graphic designer at Blind who is working on the layout. Chris goes in depth with regards to typography and how the print process will affect final costs and the quality (both objective and perceived) of the printed publication. In addition, they review some mock-up created to test the flexibility of The Futur's own logo, a process necessary to determining the long-term viability of a brand's mark. Principles of Art - Rhythm

02:41
One of the fundamental Principles of Art, Rhythm is sometimes referred to as movement. Rhythm refers to a way of utilizing the art elements to produce the look and feel of rhythmic movement with a visual tempo or beat. Movement/Rhythm can also produce the look of action or cause the viewer's eye to sweep over the artwork in a certain direction. SVA Online - Principles of Visual Language: Form and Color

01:19
To enroll, visit http://www.sva.edu/ce In this course we will explore ways to create engaging and memorable two-dimensional design. Students will be encouraged to adopt a disciplined, yet playful, creative process. Using accessible materials and simple techniques, both handmade and digital, we will experiment with the principles of two-dimensional design and color theory, including figure and ground; unity of form; contrasts (geometric & organic forms, shape, size, direction, texture); unit/super-unit/pattern; visual hierarchy, harmony, rhythm and narrative; the seven color contrasts; color illusion and color expression. The goal of the course is to develop a creative toolkit of ideas and techniques, embrace a unique awareness of form and color, strengthen design skills and encourage a way of learning through experimentation and play. This is a basic-level course and is open to all students. NOTE: This course is fully online. Students will enjoy learning with a combination of media-based lectures and live video-conferences with the instructor and classmates. Online meetings are scheduled based on the best times for the majority of students enrolled in the course and are recorded for students to review at their convenience. Additionally, there are opportunities for asynchronous discussion with the instructor and students throughout the semester.
