Osaka aquarium was the best aquarium I've ever visited and the main draw here is the huge whale shark which swims around a gigantic tank which has been built from floor to ceiling through the centre of the building. The tank also contains a variety of other marine life and other sharks such as the hammer head you can see at the end of the video. The aquarium is set up so that it spirals around the central tank allowing you to view it from top to I was completely mesmerised by this giant creature.

The first Chinese commercial flight took off on Saturday from Hainan’s Meilan International Airport for Yongxing in the South China Sea following a major upgrade of the island’s airport. The island is the seat of the municipal government of Sansha, China’s southernmost city, overseeing China’s territory in the South China Sea. Previously transportation of cargo and personnel has mainly relied on shipping. Satellite images released by U.S. thinktank Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative (AMTI) reveal that China may have installed anti-aircraft and anti-missile systems on all seven artificial islands that it has built in the South China Sea. According to AMTI, China appears to have militarized Gaven, Hughes, Johnson, Cuarteron, Fiery Cross, Mischief and Subi reefs in the South China Sea. This discovery is significant as during a state visit to the U.S. last year, Chinese President Xi Jinping publicly stated that China had no intention of militarizing the islands. Gaven Reef and Hughes Reef have similar point-defence structures, with suspected anti-aircraft guns and close-in weapon systems installed. The structures of the facilities are different on Johnson and Cuarteron reefs. At Fiery Cross Reef, all four structures are positioned toward the sea. This allows the anti-aircraft guns and close-in weapon systems to cover all approaches to the base, according to the report by AMTI. Similar designs are being observed at Mischief Reef, where two of four structures have been completed, while only one of four structures have been completed at Subi Reef. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Next Animation Studio’s News Direct service provides daily, high-quality, informative 3D news animations that fill in for missing footage and help viewers understand breaking news stories or in-depth features on science, technology, and health. Walk with me in front of our resort cottage at Miniloc Island Resort in El Nido Palawan during low tide. 3-4 feet water goes down to knee level during low tide and exposes many creatures. This resort is full of sea life just a few steps from your cottage. Definitely one of the best resorts I’ve been to.

A US think-thank says recent satellite photographs show China appears to have militarized Spratly Islands in the disputed South China Sea. The Center for Strategic and International Studies says Beijing has built reinforced aircraft hangers on its holdings. It says there were no military aircraft seen at the time the photos were taken in late July, but the hangars have room for any fighter jet in the Chinese air force. The United States accuses China of militarizing the region. But Beijing has repeatedly denied doing so, saying the facilities are for civilian and self-defense uses. China, in turn, criticized US patrols and exercises for ramping up tensions in the region. China claims most of the South China Sea. The Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan and Brunei have overlapping claims.
