If you wish to master aurora photography and learn from award winning photographers then check offer by Iceland Photo Tours at https://iceland-photo-tours.com/ On 25th February 2014 Sun produced X4.9 flare which on 27th February caused G2 (KP 6) geomagnetic storm on Earth. It was the brightest aurora display so far during this solar maximum which I could witness with auroral displays overhead in the far north of Scotland. Living and working on Skye for the past 7 years has been a dream. We’re often told that we are lucky to be living and working here but I never really thought so. We're just lucky that we get to live anywhere we choose to. However, last night we were treated to the Aurora. It wasn’t the brightest or the most dramatic I’ve seen but it finally twigged how lucky we were to be living and working where we do. I literally walked out of my living room door and saw the Aurora. I didn’t have to drive to a dark area, stand out in the cold or catch a flight to Iceland to see them. I saw them from my living room sofa, with a beer in hand. If you’ve ever wondered what the Northern Lights look like to the naked eye, this is it. I apologise for the noise in the footage but it was very very dark and I shot most of this at 1/30th of a second. *This was on an Amber Alert which was 127.1nt. You really need 200nt+ to capture without any noise. Shot on the A7sii at 1/30th and 400,000 iso. I have added noise reduction and crushed the blacks as much as I can.

Hi everyone I would like to present my first TimeLapse of Aurora borealis. To make that short movie I took over 500 shots at Firkin point Loch Lomond. Night of the 22.11.16 was cold( about -4). Luckily I took my sleeping bag which help me to survive.. From 09.00pm to 02.00am I was lying on the rocks and watching the Lights in the darkness. First time in my life I actually saw giant fillars dancing on the sky ! That was absolutely mystical.... Just me, stars, northen lights and pure ice all around. I'm going to continue recording of aurora. The plan is to go a bit higher next time. Please don't hesitate to share :)

Taken on my GoPro I wasn't expecting it to record much - how wrong was I :-) Probably the best aurora I have ever seen over Scotland. The aurora lasted for about three hours with the full show of the northern lights. Fantastic! Be sure to watch in 4K if you can :-) To use this video in a commercial player or in broadcasts, please email [email protected]

Come along with us on a virtual experience, Aurora Chasing in 4K Ultra High Def! Despite being under the weather (in all senses, it was well below zero and we were quite sick with the flu), Marketa, Angus and I ventured out to capture the Northern Lights with our newest tool, the Atomos Shogun 4K external recorder. We combined this with a Sony a7S and a DJI Ronin for a look at what's it like to "Chase the Lights." The Atomos did great and while the Ronin usually does a good job it seemed quite jittery on this night. I'm in contact with support and hope to find a resolution to this but it's done that the last few times I've taken it out in temps colder than 10ºF. Keep in mind it is very windy, I'm stumbling around in knee deep snow and it's about 0ºF so considering, it still held up rather well. This is a sample of how the Ronin should and usually does behave. http://youtu.be/1bb5qGmtG_M As of 1/14/15 I'm still waiting to hear back from DJI. It seems we have a few things to work out both with the Ronin and the Shogun but are very excited for this amazing trio once we get things rolling smoothly. If you'd like to be out there having your portraits taken in front of these magnificent Northern Lights, join us for a night under the Aurora. http://www.ronnmurrayphoto.com/NorthernLightsTours/TourOptions/Winter-Aurora-Alaska This video intended to show what's its like to actually be out beneath these amazing Auroras we witness almost nightly. Please explore this channel, and our website for the more polished videos. Caithness is the most northerly county on the mainland of Great Britain and it has excellent night skies due to lack of light pollution. In fact Caithness has one of the darkest night skies in the whole UK so you can see arc of Milky Way stretching overhead on every moonless night if the sky is clear. Due to county location on the far north, in Caithness you can see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) more often than from every other place in mainland Britain. I hope you will enjoy watching Caithness night sky treasures accompanied by great piece of music by British composer Rick Clarke, so turn up your speakers volume. For more great music visit Rick's website at http://music4yourvids.co.uk For best experience please watch on full screen in HD resolution. Thanks for watching.

Tour Scotland Autumn video of the Northern Lights over my cottage in Scone. The aurora borealis, or northern lights, is a spectacular natural phenomenon which can occasionally be seen in the night sky over Britain. The Northern Lights are caused when a solar wind, or highly charged particles released by the sun, interferes with the Earth’s atmosphere. This interaction stimulates the gases in the atmosphere, causing them to glow a fluorescent green

Tour Scotland video of the Northern Lights off the coast of Scotland. The aurora borealis, or northern lights, is a spectacular natural phenomenon which can occasionally be seen in the night sky over Britain. In northern latitudes, the effect is known as the aurora borealis, or the northern lights, named after the Roman goddess of dawn, Aurora, and the Greek name for the north wind, Boreas, by Galileo in 1619. Auroras seen within the auroral oval may be directly overhead, but from farther away they illuminate the poleward horizon as a greenish glow, or sometimes a faint red, as if the Sun were rising from an unusual direction.
