CrossFit - What is CrossFit? An Interview with Glassman and Fast Company Magazine
Free Video from the CrossFit Journal. At the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games, CrossFit founder and CEO Greg Glassman sat down with Fast Company Magazine to define CrossFit. He first defines CrossFit as "constantly varied, high-intensity functional movement." Says Glassman: "One of the things that we've done that I think is critical to our success and perhaps unique to our effort even is that we've been very, very clear about, from the outset, defining terms." Glassman expands his explanation by defining functional movements through scientific means: "universal motor-recruitment patterns." "These things are unique in their ability to express power," he says. The importance of functional movements, says Glassman, is that "they will determine in no small measure the quality of your life moving forward." Glassman, however, has always preferred demonstration to explanation and tries to get people to experience CrossFit for themselves.

The top 7 things NOT to do when starting a business
* Join my BELIEVE newsletter: http://www.evancarmichael.com/newsletter/ Emil: "Hey Evan! I have been watching your videos for a while now. Hope you enjoyed your trip to Asia! I am enthusiastic about entrepreneur videos. I have searched on Youtube and Google and I always get videos/articles about what to do. I believe knowing what NOT to do is equally important. Usually, all I get is generic tips such as "dont grow too fast" but there are no concrete case studies. But when it comes to successful stories, there are specific examples we can learn from. I was thinking if maybe you can have videos/articles analysing and explaining how some real businesses failed, especially start ups. It would be great if you can use your influence to encourage entrepreneurs who have failed to share their stories with you. That way, the mistake will only be made by once because we all will have learnt from it Hopefully you'll consider my suggestion" ENGAGE * Subscribe to my channel: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=Modelingthemasters * Leave a comment, thumbs up the video (please!) * Suppport me: http://www.evancarmichael.com/support/ CONNECT * Twitter: https://twitter.com/evancarmichael * Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/EvanCarmichaelcom * Google+: https://plus.google.com/108469771690394737405/posts * Website: http://www.evancarmichael.com EVAN * About: http://www.evancarmichael.com/about/ * Products: http://www.evancarmichael.com/zhuge/ * Coaching: http://www.evancarmichael.com/movement/ * Speaking: http://www.evancarmichael.com/speaking/ SCHEDULE * Mon - 1 Minute Mondays: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiZj-Ik9MmM2HwduoMCpvZRhd2qE22Fg- * Tues - Tech Tuesdays: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiZj-Ik9MmM3NGvdl33mEwdUdr19zti9s * Thurs - Thankful Thursdays: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiZj-Ik9MmM2Scsq-0Er3mA8U3Kqz9fiV * Fri - Famous Fridays: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiZj-Ik9MmM30QoA2ygo5RWzfQm8y7ScL * Sun - Famous Failures: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiZj-Ik9MmM2aeaKPqI5ILrNcLjbQZDob * Your Questions - Every day! The Business Model Canvas - 9 Steps to Creating a Successful Business Model - Startup Tips
The Business Model Canvas - 9 Steps to Creating a Successful Business Model - Startup Tips The Business Model Canvas, is a strategic management and entrepreneurial tool. It allows you to describe, design, challenge, invent, and pivot your business model. The Business Model Canvas is comprised of 9 key segments: The left hand section of the Business Model Canvas is the Infrastructure section and comprises three key areas: Key Activities: The most important activities in executing a company's value proposition. Key Resources: The resources that are necessary to create value for the customer. Partner Network: In order to optimize operations and reduce risks of a business model, organization usually cultivate buyer-supplier relationships so they can focus on their core activity. The middle section of the canvas describes the business offering and is the value proposition delivered to different customer segments. Value Propositions: The collection of products and services a business offers to meet the needs of its customers. According to Osterwalder, (2004), a company's value proposition is what distinguishes itself from its competitors. The value proposition provides value through various elements such as newness, performance, customization, "getting the job done", design, brand/status, price, cost reduction, risk reduction, accessibility, and convenience/usability. The value propositions may be: Quantitative – price and efficiency Qualitative – overall customer experience and outcome The right hand side of the Business Model Canvas describes the customers, the channels through which you deliver services and and the relationships you have with your customers. Customer Segments: To build an effective business model, a company must identify which customers it tries to serve. Various sets of customers can be segmented based on the different needs and attributes to ensure appropriate implementation of corporate strategy meets the characteristics of selected group of clients. Channels: A company can deliver its value proposition to its targeted customers through different channels. Effective channels will distribute a company’s value proposition in ways that are fast, efficient and cost effective. An organization can reach its clients either through its own channels (store front), partner channels (major distributors), or a combination of both. Customer Relationships: To ensure the survival and success of any businesses, companies must identify the type of relationship they want to create with their customer segments. The bottom section of the canvas describes the finances. Cost Structure: This describes the most important monetary consequences while operating under different business models. A company's DOC. Revenue Streams: The way a company makes income from each customer segment. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIypuA7lS-FsVG6cMlNCK2w?sub_confirmation=1 Check out some of our other videos Compensation claims - how long should it take https://youtu.be/NuxfrgSTg78 LLC vs S Corp https://youtu.be/4xNCnf9hitw Minizing tax https://youtu.be/ybSnFb6rx6Y How to fund a startup https://youtu.be/ctzDb59sw5M Kickstarter success Ep 1 https://youtu.be/2EG78JNZ7nA Kickstarter success Ep 2 https://youtu.be/ZMlq5CmUNz8 How to pitch to investors with Guy Kawasaki https://youtu.be/-epR-uGlv4M If you are interested in sustainability issues then check this video out The Sustainable Business Model Canvas https://youtu.be/gVimMEI2u2w

How to Start a Business with No Money
http://goo.gl/m6fDg I have been running my own businesses now for over 13 years, and during that time I have been approached by countless people all asking me pretty much the same thing, and that is, "how do I become successful in business?" If you ask 100 people that question, you are going to get 100 different answers. This is because most of the people you ask are going to talk to you about a specific business model, sales idea, or marketing tactic, etc... In my opinion, the answer is simpler than that; however, I can't actually take credit for the simplicity of my answer. Back before I started my last company, I was given some business advice that, at the time, I thought was the dumbest thing I'd ever heard. It didn't make sense to me, because I wasn't yet in business. Years later, I've come to realize that it was some of the smartest advice that I've ever received. I say this, because, after following the advice, I ended up building a company that I sold for $1.2 million back in 2008. In the video post below, I share with you exactly what this advice as, as well as how I put it to use in my own business, and, it is my hope that, after watching this video, you will do two things; share the video with others, and take my advice to heart. http://onlineincomelab.com

What is the Best Online ESL Company to Work for?
Hi! It's me, Carli! In this video, I talk about what is the best online ESL company to work for. 51Talk - http://tms.51talk.com/na/index.php?referrer=146565 If you apply through my link, I will refer and mentor you! Be sure to email me at [email protected] (51Talk is NOT currently giving a hiring bonus) VIPKID - https://t.vipkid.com.cn/?refereeId=6702906&refersourceid=a01 DaDa - https://www.DaDaABC.com/teacher/job/o0o8P6V60d/ DaDa ABC is now known as DaDa. You should consider requirements, hiring process, training, schedule flexibility, absences, hours available, who you teach, what you teach, pay, and penalties. There are hundreds of other online companies! Here are sites with up to date lists of ESL companies and reviews. https://teacheslonlineanywhere.com/featured-esl-jobs-online/ http://www.goodairlanguage.com/teaching-english-online-2/ I work for 51Talk, but I was not asked or paid to endorse these companies. These are the top companies that I would recommend to my family and friends. ESL teaching online is a relatively new market, but it is really possible to earn $15-22 from your home! You do not have to be a teacher to get hired. It is not easy to get hired by the top companies, but it is totally possible if you do your research and prepare for the interviews and demo lessons. Be sure to check out my other videos if you're interested in working for 51Talk. Feel free to leave any questions or doubts in the comments and I will try to help. Only 2% Know the Real Names of These Things
There are dozens of things we see and use every day but have never actually heard what their official names are. Do you know, for example, what tartle is? Or what are balusters? Or what is vagitus? If you have no idea what any of that means, you’re not alone! Upgrade your vocab with Bright Side! If you’re looking for a reason to impress your friends, try learning 1 or 2 of these obscure words a day so that you can implement them into your everyday vocabulary. People will think you’re a genius! …Or really weird 😋. TIMESTAMPS: Tartle 0:39 Balusters 0:52 Vagitus 1:04 Earworm 1:17 Philtrum 1:33 Mondegreen 1:42 Keeper 2:00 Lunule 2:11 Gubbins 2:23 Perlicue 2:41 Phloem bundles 2:52 Pandiculation 3:08 Griffonage 3:21 Bumbershoot 3:34 Ferrule 3:49 Scurryfunge 4:01 Muntins 4:13 Pate 4:39 Aglet 4:47 Armhole 5:03 Nurdle 5:16 Octothorpe 5:26 Borborygm 5:56 Powercycling 6:02 Punt 6:26 Nibbling 6:31 To xertz 6:46 Barm 6:59 Oyster pale 7:10 Zarf 7:28 Petrichor 7:40 Caret 7:58 Tittles 8:15 Interrobang 8:25 Grawlix 8:48 Obelus 9:04 Lemniscate 9:12 #rarewords #weirdwords Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - A tartle is used to describe that moment of hesitation before speaking because you can’t remember someone’s name. That can also be classified as “a really awkward moment” but that’s another story! - That little soft patch of indented skin between your top lip and your nose is your philtrum. Mustaches love to grow here! - Don’t you love that Jimi Hendrix song? How does it go, “Excuse me, while I kiss this guy!” Huh? It’s “kiss the sky”?!? Oh, how embarrassing! Yeah, I’ve just had a case of mondegreen. Totally misunderstood those lyrics! - Take a look at your nails. See those curved white tips on the ends of them? That section of your nail is called a lunule. And all you nail biters out there, stop eating your lunules! - You know those stringy pieces that get in the way while you’re enjoying a perfectly yummy banana? Those are called phloem bundles, and they actually serve as a way to deliver nutrients to the fruit while it’s still growing. - When you’ve been sitting still for a while or just woke up, you stretch and yawn, causing your muscles to tense up. This is known as pandiculation. - Doctors are notorious for using griffonage, otherwise known as writing that’s practically impossible to read. Is there a cure for griffonage? - When you find out company is coming and you frantically clean your house like a crazy person for an hour, this is called scurryfunge! Do you scurryfunge? Let me know down in the comments! - Can you rub your belly and pat your pate at the same time? Well, aren’t you talented! (The pate is the tippy top of your head in case you didn’t get that.) - The aglet is that little metal or sometimes plastic piece that holds the tips of shoelaces or drawstrings on a jacket from fraying. And without the aglet, good luck getting your shoestring through the eyelets! - You use a nurdle every morning and evening. It’s the little dab of toothpaste you squeeze onto your toothbrush! - Ever turn your computer on and off again because the screen froze? Not only is this super annoying, but it also has a name! The action of turning something off and on again is known as powercycling. - Next time you get a chance, take a look at the bottom of a bottle of wine. You’ll notice that it’s indented. This large indentation is referred to as the punt, and it serves to provide structural integrity. - Ever order a cold beer with that perfect bit of foam on top? That foam actually has a name: barm. It occurs naturally thanks to the way beer comes out of the tap. - Next time you head to the coffee shop, don’t forget to grab a zarf! No, not scarf, ZARF! This is the name of the cardboard sleeve that keeps the heat of the cup from hurting your hand. - Some questions are also exclamations, like “What were you thinking?!” Well, you always put both a question mark and an exclamation point, right? Get this: back in the ‘60s, a punctuation mark that looked like this (‽) was used to express the same idea. Known as an interrobang, it didn’t become too popular and stopped being used as time went on. - You know it as “the division sign” in math, but that’s just its nickname. Call it what it is: an obelus! - Ever wonder what the infinity symbol that looks like a sideways 8 is called? It’s a lemniscate. So, there ya go! How to design a successful logo? How to build a famous brand for your business? Some of the most well-known logos in the world were purposefully designed to indicate something much more than simple beauty. In fact, it seems that in some cases, every line, curve, and color has meaning behind it. Adidas, Apple, BMW, Coca-Cola, Toyota… We see these famous brands everywhere but never consider what their logos exactly mean. Curious to know the secret? Watch the 16 famous logos with a hidden meaning you've never noticed. #logomeaning #logosecret # Hyundai 0:33 The letter ’Н’ symbolizes two people – a client and a representative of the company – shaking hands. Adidas 0:52 The current logo is three stripes at an angle which together form a triangle. This symbolizes a mountain, which in turn represents the challenges that all sportsmen have to overcome day after day. Apple 1:21 Rob Janoff, the designer who came up with the world-famous Apple company logo, explained his idea in one of his interviews. He bought a bag of apples, placed them in a bowl, and spent time drawing them for a week, trying to break the image down into something simple. Vaio 1:58 The first two letters of the Vaio logo symbolize an analogue wave. The last two are similar to the numbers 1 and 0 — that is, symbols of a digital signal. Amazon 2:14 The orange arrow is similar to a smile because the company wants its customers to be satisfied. The arrow is also stretched between the letters ’A’ and ’Z’, in a hint that the company sells absolutely every product you can imagine. Baskin Robbins 2:40 The pink-colored parts of the "BR" section make up the number 31, which is how many ice cream flavors Baskin Robbins used to famously sell. Toyota 2:56 The logo represents a stylized image of a needle eye with a thread passing through it. This is a hint at the company’s past – they used to produce weaving machines. Continental 3:28 Continental, a famous car tire producer, has a logo in which the first two letters depict a car wheel. Formula 1 3:41 If you look carefully at the white space between the letter ’F’ and the red stripes, you can see the number 1. Pinterest 3:59 On Pinterest, people collect images they like from across the Internet and ’pin’ them to their online boards. That’s why the image of a pin is hidden in the letter P. Beats 4:17 Beats, an audio equipment producer based in the USA, uses a logo in which the letter ’B’ looks like headphones on a person’s head. Toblerone 4:32 The famous chocolate company based in Bern, Switzerland, has a silhouette of a bear in its logo. That's because Bern is sometimes called a city of bears. BMW 4:55 The logo is simply a part of the Bavarian flag, the area of Germany where the company originated. LG 5:18 The logo is a stylized image of a person’s face. According to the company, this represents its aspiration to have human relations with their customers. Evernote 5:34 The corner of the elephant’s ear is folded over in a similar way how people fold the corner of a page to make notes. Coca-Cola 5:57 In the space between the letters ’O’ and ’L’, you can see the Danish flag. It’s purely a coincidence. Nevertheless, Coca-Cola has used this as part of its marketing campaigns in the Scandinavian country. If you’ve enjoyed this video, hit that thumbs up button! What it Takes to Sell Your Company to Amazon for $970m with Justin Kan from Twitch.tv
Foundr Magazine EP087: What it Takes to Sell Your Company to Amazon for $970m with Justin Kan from Twitch.tv Justin Kan doesn’t come off as the type who lives for the spotlight. Which is funny, because at one point he live-streamed his life, 24/7 for the whole world to see, for months. That may seem like an unlikely path to a billion-dollar sale, but in fact, the early experiment in the world of live video got Kan and his partner Emmett Shear part of the way there. That unconventional level of dedication and curiosity is a testament to how these two have been willing to dive into the opportunities before them, leading them through a flurry of tech business successes. Kan’s CV speaks for itself: He co-founded hit companies Twitch, Justin.tv, Socialcam, Exec, and is now a partner at startup incubator Y Combinator, which invests millions annually into tech companies. A native of Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, Kan was not an obvious candidate for someone who would succeed in tech. He has a certain natural charisma, but studied physics and philosophy at Yale, neither of which is necessarily a match for a career in startups. However, he received a crash course in entrepreneurship from an early age by watching his mother run her own real estate business, and it seems to have stuck. From there, Kan experienced his share of losses and ridiculously spectacular wins, developing a series of products that define the chapters of his fascinating career in tech startups. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ ✅ Subscribe to our FREE Podcast on iTunes for more episodes: https://foundr.com/cast ✅ Visit http://foundr.com/ for more epic content on showing you what it takes to build and grow a successful business ✅ Subscribe to the Foundr channel here: https://www.youtube.com/foundr?sub_confirmation=1 ✅ Subscribe to Foundr's Weekly Newsletter for exclusive content here: http://foundr.com/newsletter ✅ Get FREE Printed Branson edition: http://www.foundr.com/freemagazine ________________________________________________________________________________________ Foundr is the go-to digital resource for the growing ranks of craft, self-made entrepreneurs – at every level of experience. Gone are the days when you needed a rich relative to bankroll your business - the global market has opened up ways past generations could never have dreamed of. Walls between the average Joe and big business have come crashing down. In fact, we'd wager average Joe's will soon account for more boardroom table seats than fat cats in suits. Yankee Candle: Part: 1 What Is This Company Doing? ~2018~
Today we are going to discuss probably the most highly requested topic I have EVER had on my YouTube channel. I do not want this to turn into a negative discussion but we need to talk about Yankee Candle. I want to preface I have burned this company for half of my life and I have a personal vested interest. This goes beyond my candle reviewing. There is literally a fragrance for every memory I've ever had and every family member I've ever loved but Yankee Candle seemingly does not care? This brand is spiraling out of control and in this video I discuss where Yankee Candle came from and where they currently stand. In part 2 we will discuss where they are now and where I think they need to go! They are hemorrhaging customers left and right and their solution seems to be producing more candles at an exponential rate and increasing the price! The most important topic of this video is the restructuring of the complete Yankee Candle aesthetic and brand which happened in 2016. They desecrated the Yankee Candle Legacy and I can't think of another company that would have the audacity to do so many changes and expect no one to say a word? In part 2 we will discuss over-saturating the market, mass production and where this company needs to go to win back our trust back if it isn't already too late! Please leave your constructive thoughts and input in the comment section below. As always thank you for being the best part of my day! David Clubb - large or small, company's culture is what matters
Full story from http://www.recruiter.co.uk/news/2012/08/video-clubb-sees-consistency-across-brands-in-new-role/ Recruitment is one industry that sees multinational companies with tens of thousands of employees rub shoulders with a number of smaller firms, right down to literal one-man bands -- and the smaller firms still pack their punch. David Smith knows all about the differing and similar challenges involved at different-sized firms, having recently moved from a role as managing director of admin and secretarial recruiter Office Angels, part of the Adecco Group, to property specialist Deverell Smith Recruitment (DSR), where he took up the role of chief operating officer earlier this summer. Office Angels has nearly 400 staff across 77 nationwide branches, while DSR has just two offices, both in London. In this video, he talks about some of the similarities of managing the staff across the two businesses. He also notes that as DSR looks to grow the business, there are similarities in the way a small agency would work compared to a branch network in another video (See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAswH_3d7c0&feature=youtu.be) He had previously spoken on video to Recruiter magazine ahead of the construction and property Sector Focus in the August edition. The proprietor is personally taxed on all income from the business. The term is also often used colloquially (but not by lawyers or by public officials) to refer to a company. A company, on the other hand, is a separate legal entity and provides for limited liability, as well as corporate tax rates. A company structure is more complicated and expensive to set up, but offers more protection and benefits for the owner.
