In this video we explain the science behind wind. What exactly is it and what causes it to blow? You can find more information on what causes wind to blow on the Met Office website: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/learning/wind/what-causes-wind Wind is air in motion, travelling between areas of different pressure. To understand what causes this motion; we first need to understand a bit about air pressure. When air heats up, the atoms and molecules within it move faster and spread out. It is this reaction to heat that causes warm air to expand and rise, In colder air the molecules move more slowly and are closer together, which makes the air sink. When heat from the sun reflects off the Earth surface, it warms the air above it - this air will rise, leaving areas of lower pressure. In contrast, areas of higher pressure occur where the cooler air is located. When there is a difference in air pressure between two areas, air moves from the high pressure area to low pressure area to equalise the pressure. The best example of how this causes wind is in coastal areas. To learn more about the history of meteorology and the science behind the weather headlines, you can listen to our audio podcasts here: https://soundcloud.com/metofficepodcasts On sunny days, land warms up quicker than the sea, which reflects more of the sun’s rays. This creates a temperature contrast and, as the land heats up, it warms and expands the air above it. As this warm air expands, an area of low pressure is created over the land leaving relatively higher pressure over the sea. This pressure difference causes air to move from the sea to the land to equalise the pressure difference. That rush of air is the wind we experience. In this case, a sea breeze. To learn more about the history of meteorology and the science behind the weather headlines, you can listen to our audio podcasts here: https://soundcloud.com/metofficepodcasts Music by David Hyde https://soundcloud.com/davidhydemusic

This type of beach launching is the most common. Sea breeze effect of the land heating up more often than not creates the breeze to blow onto the shore from the sea. This usually creates waves which can present a hazard. Coupled with the fact that the wind will try to blow you back ashore makes this the hardest beach to sail away from. This video shows you how to identify the beach and what to do to sail out correctly.

The Delta Works in the Netherlands (Holland) is the largest flood protection project in the world. This project consists of a number of surge barriers, for examples: 1- The Oosterscheldekering is the largest of the 13 ambitious Delta Works series of dams and storm surge barriers and it is the largest surge barrier in the world, 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) long. The dam is based on 65 concrete pillars with 62 steel doors, each 42 metres wide. It is designed to protect the Netherlands from flooding from the North Sea. 2- The Maeslantkering is a storm barrier with two movable arms; when the arms are open the waterway remains an important shipping route however when the arms close a protective storm barrier is formed for the city of Rotterdam. Closing the arms of the barrier is a completely automated process done without human intervention. The lyrics "Ailiu iath nErenn" mean - "I invoke the land of Ireland" - it is in Erse, very early Irish. I did make the last 4 photos Ireland specific, but for me the message is about the beauty and inspiration found in all of nature everywhere. The music is contemplative and mystical in nature, chasing after the ineffable that can never be named. I love that so many of their songs have a spiritual message without being overtly religious. I like the use of the solo violin here, juxtapositioned against McGlynn's lyrical voice and the subtle, well tuned choral backgrounds of the choir Anuna. Thanks for watching.

Here is a song a student and I created to help my 6th grade students study. I hope you enjoy. Jet streams long Narrow tubes up there West to East up where Planes fly in the air The land breezes Start over land How 'bout a sea breeze From water to sand It's time to start a monsoon Summer time of rain (This winds about to) Winter monsoons are dryer Wind is blowing out This winds about to blow, blow This winds about to blow, blow This winds about to blow, blow This winds about to blow, blow This winds about to... Doldrums...what? There's no wind at all And horse latitudes Throw them overboard Warm air goes up Cold air will sink Convection is caused By uneven heat Traders would travel west Trade winds can help them out (This winds about to) Tonight the global winds Will blow this place around This winds about to blow, blow This winds about to blow, blow This winds about to blow, blow This winds about to blow, blow This winds about to Blow Ro, ro, ro, Earth rotates It rotates Without it wind would go straight Coriolis curving wind This Effect will curve the wind Westerlies, Easterlies Coming right From where they're named Let's see how to measure wind Anemometer cups spin Wind is taking over...blow Get used to it...blow...blow This winds about to blow, blow This winds about to blow, blow This winds about to blow, blow This winds about to blow, blow This winds about to Blow

Airplane crabbing is usually needed because of high crosswinds. Those strong winds can also prevent planes from taking off and landing at the airport. The name comes from the way crabs walk sideways across the beach. Following is a transcript of the video: Alex Appolonia: It's not always a smooth and pleasant landing for airplanes. Intense strong winds can affect the position of how planes land on the runway, making it look like the plane is literally landing sideways. Here's how planes land sideways in high winds. Landings like this actually have a name, crabbing. The name comes from the way crabs walk sideways across the beach. That's kind of what the airplane looks like when it's landing this way. Crabbing is usually needed because of high crosswinds. Les: The wind can either be blowing straight down the runway or 90 degrees to the runway or somewhere in between. And usually it's somewhere in between there. Alex Appolonia: That's Les Westbrooks. He teaches aeronautical science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and is a retired airline pilot. Les: Landing in a crosswind situation requires a couple of different maneuvers. When we're at altitude, the aircraft just flies in a crab, and we just go across, kinda sideways. Once we get down to the ground, we can't land with the aircraft in a crab, because that's gonna put a lot of stress on the outside of the landing gear, and could actually cause the landing gear to collapse if we put too much stress on it. Alex Appolonia: Whenever there is a crosswind, there's a lot of turbulence, so it's not like the pilots are flying through a slight summer breeze. Of course the ultimate goal is for the aircraft to land straight, where the nose of the plane is in alignment with the stripe that's down the runway. Those crosswinds sure make it challenging! Les: There is an angle to that. You know, as a forced vector, so the direction and the intensity that it's coming at will determine how much input we have to put into the aircraft's flight controls. Alex Appolonia: As the plane comes in, the pilots are actively controlling it, so that it's in the perfect landing position. But, when a gust of wind comes at the wrong time, it will cause the pilot to execute a go-around instead of landing. If the crosswinds are severe enough, around 45 miles per hour or so, the pilot does not have enough control to straighten the airplane out and land. If this happens, the pilot will abandon the approach and divert the plane to another airport. These strong winds can prevent the planes from taking off at an airport. That's sometimes where those flight delays come in, and we all love those! So, exactly how do the aircrafts land in these conditions? Les: So, at the last minute, we want to move the nose of the aircraft parallel with the runway, but soon as we do that, the aircraft's gonna start blowing off to the side of the runway with the wind. So in order to counteract that, we'd lower the wing, the upwind wing, we lower the wing, and straighten the nose out, and a perfect crosswind landing will be when the upwind wheel touches down first, the aircraft is straight down the runway, and then the second wheel will come down after that. Alex Appolonia: Finally, the plane is on the runway and heading to the terminal. Les: Some of your best landings are actually made when it is in challenging conditions, 'cause you are on your A-game when you're doing this. All right, and you're completely engaged, and actively controlling the airplane so, actually some of our best landings are made when we are in these crosswind landing situations. Narrator: So, if you're ever on a plane that feels like it's landing sideways, feel safe knowing the pilots have the situation totally under control. I had a VERY stressful flight with my DJI Mavic Pro while on Vacation in the Caribbean. It made for some great footage, but I had no idea how windy it can get near certain areas of the island! I should not have flown so far away! What I learned from this experience is to make sure sports mode can be activated easily. For some reason sports mode was disabled, which meant turning it on with the controller did nothing. I knew how to turn it back on, but during the stress of the situation, and sitting in the sunlight, its hard to see the screen. I definitely would love to go back to Grand Turk, because the wind seemed a lot calmer vs when I was at Sint Maarten and Saint Kitt. In the future I certainly know to take note of wind speeds, even if it is not windy in my current position. Will also know not to fly so far away. Show Notes: https://retipster.com/37 Learn other ways to make passive income from land: https://youtu.be/oTnf8nymjQg Learn more about Alcen Renewable here: http://www.alcenrenewable.com What Arnold things about coal energy: https://youtu.be/_Ise8Mvzub4 Over the past year, I've become a lot more interested in finding legitimate ways to generate sources of truly passive income from vacant land. Now, to the average real estate investor, the words "cash flow" and "vacant land" do NOT go together, but if you know where to look and how to find these kinds of properties, there are actually a ton of opportunities out there. There are actually a lot of ways to do it, and one such way is to invest in own land that is leased out to the owner of a wind farm development. Essentially, the landowner can earn revenue from the lease (which typically lasts for 35 years or longer) and through a small percentage of the royalties from the energy that is generated and sent into the power grid. Depending on the size of the wind farm project, it's not uncommon for these leases and royalties to produce anywhere from $20,000 - $50,000 for the landowner. And the landowner doesn't have to do anything. They simply own the dirt and collect the money each year. Sounds pretty simple, right? Well, there's A LOT more to the story, and in this episode - I talk with Tao Kong (COO of Alcen Renewable) and we uncover a lot of the details behind how wind energy leases work, what kinds of properties make the most sense for this type of development, what markets make the most sense to start looking in (and which ones to avoid), and a lot more. This was one of the most interesting conversations I've had in a long time, and if you have any interest in passive income, land investing or renewable energy, I think you'll enjoy it too.

After completing this video learner will understand the concept of Uneven Heating of Land and Water. also, explain about Winds, Storms and Cyclones. Access all educational video only on Edubull. Have you at any point been to the shoreline? As you walk nearer to the sea, the breeze for the most part gets. Your hair blows in your face, and the chill breeze takes the edge of the late morning Sun. For what reason is the shoreline so blustery? The appropriate response is differential warming among water and land. Water, similar to the sea, has high explicit warmth, so it changes temperature slower. Land, similar to sandy shorelines, has low explicit warmth, so with a similar measure of warmth, it expands temperature all the more immediately contrasted with water. This property of land and water isn't in charge of overwhelming our shoreline towels, yet additionally for a progressively serious climate like tempests and rainstorm. #cbse #cbseclass7 #cbseclass7science #windsandstorms Free Registration Here for the full course of CBSE Class 7 course https://www.edubull.com/sign-up Subscribe #YouTube Channel - https://bit.ly/2TeH9kII https://www.youtube.com/user/visionetindia?sub_confirmation=1

You would be descending at a similar speed too if you were falling towards Earth, as Neptune's Gravity is only 14% stronger than our own planets. Because you are so far away from the sun, very little light reaches this distant part of the solar system, resembling a dim twilight back on Earth. You would first fall through high white, cirrus clouds made of methane ice crystals, at about 0.5 atmospheres, which is half the atmospheric pressure at sea level on Earth. At this altitude it is incredibly cold, dropping to below -200 degrees Celsius (-350degrees Fahrenheit). Around 30 miles down you would enter into the ammonia and hydrogen sulphide cloud decks at about 5 atmospheres. Hear the clouds move faster than the speed of sound on Earth, as Neptune experiences the fastest wind in the solar system, reaching speeds of up to 1500 miles per hour. But because of your super science fiction space suit, you are kept steady and continue on your descent. Because of Neptune's thick clouds and distance from the sun, no light can penetrate this deep and you would find yourself in a pitch black, cold, lonely environment, with violent winds whipping past your helmet. After falling for a long time you would be 100 miles into Neptune, when huge flashes of lightning illuminate your dark surroundings, revealing towering white water ice clouds that are causing rumbling thunderstorms to occur. As you pass through this cloud stage the pressure would increase to well above 50 atmospheres and the temperature would be around 26 degrees Celsius. Using your hi-tech science fiction helmet you can now see what's around you, but you would quickly realise that the cloud layers were the easy part of the adventure. As you emerge from the bottom of the water ice clouds the pressure would become intense and the temperature would drastically increase to above 1000 degrees Celsius. After a very long time of sinking, you would be around 4000 miles into Neptune and within the planets mysterious mantle layer. Hear your suit would have to withstand pressures greater than 10,000 atmospheres and increasing temperatures higher than 4000 degrees Celsius. This strange superheated layer is composed of water, methane and ammonia ices that behave as a hot dense fluid under immense pressures. Because of these extreme pressures carbon atoms might also crystallise and form diamonds. As you descend ever closer towards Neptune's core, these diamonds would rain down around you like glittering hailstone, as they slowly sink through the liquid mantle. After a long time of sinking through this thick region, with the pressures and temperatures continuing to drastically increase, your adventure would come to an end. Thousands of miles into the planet you would be standing on Neptune's core, a surface roughly the same mass as Earth and made of rock, iron and exotic ices, possibly with a layer of nestled diamonds. In this region you would be stranded, unable to travel further and unable to escape. You would be doomed to spend the rest of your life in a scorching environment with your science fiction suit having to withstand the temperature of above 5000 degrees Celsius and pressures of above 7 million atmospheres. I DO NOT OWN When the night has come And the land is dark And the moon is the only light we'll see No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid Just as long as you stand, stand by me And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh now now stand by me Stand by me, stand by me If the sky that we look upon Should tumble and fall And the mountains should crumble to the sea I won't cry, I won't cry, no I won't shed a tear Just as long as you stand, stand by me And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me Stand by me, stand by me, stand by me-e, yeah Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me, oh now now stand by me Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me Darlin', darlin', stand by me-e, stand by me Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me
